Your Morning News 5.15.08

So by now you know that Barack Obama received the John Edwards endorsement yesterday, but did you know that he also called a reporter ’sweetie’? 72% of respondents to msnbc.com’s poll on the issue say that they don’t find the comment offensive, which means: open season on female nicknames! Doll! Babe! Dollface! Whip out your Mad Men DVDs and get learning!

CBS buying CNET, Sen. Arlen Specter being a douchebag, and man caves after the jump.

CBS bought CNET Networks for $1.8 billion, ending CNET’s quest for a suitor. CBS’s internet properties are truly wide ranging now, including popular music tracking site last.fm and smaller content sites, such as Wallstrip. Interesting that just as CBS is considering shutting down its news division, they happen to acquire News.com.

Continuing to ignore the fact that we’re inundated with, you know, real problems, Senator Arlen Specter wasted all day yesterday whining about the Patriots spygate scandal. “It’s up to Congress to investigate and take corrective action,” Specter declared, “There might be hearings.” And once the baseball steroid and football cheating hearings are over? Subpoena LeBron James for being mean to his mommy.

Finally, CNN reports on the growing popularity of man caves, which is entirely non-newsworthy and excellent. A man cave owner is quoted:

“The whole point of it, it’s just guy time,” he said. “There’s no rules, there’s no bathroom. It’s just getting away. … Most of it is just relaxation and having a good time. Nothing ever happens out there that can create any extra stress.”

God Bless America, and go have some free Dunkin Donuts coffee.
