CNN reported that the Clinton and Obama campaigns are in “formal talks” over the vice presidential spot, though naturally CNN didn’t find it necessary to get a source for that information or anything. John McCain also (finally) released his health records, though the glance the Associated Press was permitted at them revealed nothing particularly worrisome - except, of course, for the tattoo of Roy Orbison on his butt.

A Texas appeals court ruled that the state was acting illegally when it seized 468 children from the now well known polygamist ranch. Apparently, you can’t just take kids whenever you feel like it. Bad news for Angelina Jolie! HEY!

Oh, shut up, it’s Friday.

The Phoenix Mars Lander is fulfilling its name by landing on Mars on Sunday, yet NASA folks are worried. Why? Well, it’s designed the same as the Mars Polar Lander from 2001, which, well, crashed. It’s okay, the Polar Lander was only $125 million, which is the same amount we spend every single second in Iraq. That’s a true fact. Okay, turns out that none of that was a true fact, and is humbly retracted. -ed.

Finally, Indiana Jones 4 was released at midnight yesterday, and is making a go at the 5-day weekend records set by Pirates 3 and Spider-Man 3. We’re talking $160+ million. Time for NASA to start putting out movies?
