Your Morning News: Election Day
Posted by The Editors in Barack Obama, Election 2008

We tossed the idea of writing an endorsement back and forth but neither of us could really find the energy to get started on it. Maybe it was because so much has already been said. Do we really need to go over the issues? Fine, here they are: Universal Health care, the economy, global warming, Iraq, Afghanistan, terrorism. If you really don’t know where the candidates stand it is basically a continuation or slight shift of the policies of the last 8 years or you can choose a new direction entirely.
You know the historic nature of the election. It is the first African-American candidate vs. war hero. The nation is facing crises at home and abroad.
You know the differences between the campaigns. One has been smart, disciplined and based on empowering the average citizen to recognize that we are at the crossroads of history and need to reengage with civic life. The other has blundered from tactic to tactic (if John McCain loses while his campaign is “suspended,” does it still count?) and has settled on glorifying the small-minded and ignorant (Joe the Plumber anyone?), clinging to the label of “Maverick” and slashing their ground budget to blanket the country in negative ads.
You can already sense the distinct differences between the two candidates as men. One is younger, maybe a little untested but he has proven himself collected, calm, and frankly, hip. One is older, more tested and during this election has proven himself erratic and quick to anger.
A victory for one of these candidates won’t destroy America, like some might argue or joke, but a victory for one would change the soul of this country.
The name of this blog is 2.0somethings. It is aimed at a new generation that is increasingly wired and inherently forward looking. This, essentially, is a contest between a candidate of the last millennium and a candidate of the new millennium. For the love of God, vote for the future.
Vote Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States.
