Senator Obama and Senator Clinton met in a debate last night where they disagreed sharply over leadership styles. I didn’t watch, but apparently the “Oh, Snap” moment was when Senator Clinton (in a totally spontaneous quip) said to Senator Obama, “Lifting whole passages from someone else’s speeches is not change you can believe in; it’s change you can Xerox.” Senator Clinton was then booed. Sorry Senator, it probably killed at Clinton HQ. Most seem to agree that despite the unabashed attempt to have the line of the night (and I guess in a way she did), Senator Clinton couldn’t alter the landscape at last night’s debate.
A lot of papers are looking at the candidates’ spending patterns and desperately trying to infer what it means that Senator Clinton spent more on pizza than Senator Obama. One difference that is significant is that Senator Clinton’s higher level consultants are paid much more than Senator Obama’s. Maybe she could have used some of the money to hire someone to write jokes that are actually funny.
McCain, Mortgages, Kosovo and Okinawa after the jump.
