OMG TV: Running late edition

Posted by Jeff in , , , , , , , ,

Okay, okay here’s your gosh darn TV shows:

8:30 - Kath & Kim (NBC)

9:00 - The Office (NBC)

9:30 - 30 Rock (NBC)

Oprah got Obama elected, now she’s going to get 30 Rock elected.  To what, you ask?  The Pantheon of Shows.  It’s like the Hall of Fame for TV shows.  It exists.  Really.

10:00 - It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX)

Late Night

Ben Stiller discusses the artistic merits of Madagascar 2 on Letterman, Julia Louis-Dreyfus goes newly adventuring on Leno, Elvis Costello is eternally cool on Conan, Paul Rudd is strangely likable on the Daily Show, and Rachel Maddow crosses network lines to show up on Colbert.

OMG TV: Mr. T for Secretary of Defense

Posted by Jeff in , , , , , , , , , ,

8:00 - Rocky III (AMC)

Announcement from AMC: In light of yesterday’s historic election results, the end Rocky III has been reedited to let Mr. T win.  That is all.

10:00 - South Park (Comedy Central)

Matt and Trey chime in with some election humor.  Election humor?  That is so yesterday.  And the 700 days before it.  New national meme: hobo humor.  (Side note: Gawker runs down some of South Park’s past forays into Doonesbury territory.)

10:30 - Chocolate News (Comedy Central)

Giving David Alan Grier’s show another week isn’t just compassionate charity, it’s an investment.  Because if we keep watching, it has to get better, right?  Right?

Late Night

Tom Brokaw calls the election on Letterman, Samuel L. Jackson yells a lot on Leno, Dennis Hopper has an acid flashack on Conan, Fox News flack Chris Wallace flacks on the Daily Show, Ambassador Andrew Young retains his title despite not being an ambassador since the gosh darn seventies on Colbert.

OMG TV: Your one stop shop for Halle Berry pictures

Posted by Jeff in , , , , , , , , , , ,

8:30 EST - Monday Night Football: Steelers at Redskins (ESPN)

Jeff’s fantasy implication: Santana Moss.  Pleeeeease catch four touchdowns tonight.  Pleeeeeeeeease.

9:00 - Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008 (NBC)

I can live with the idea of there being SNL content on nights that are not Saturdays, but it’s just plain awkward when they try to do the “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night” opening on any night but Saturday.  Well, NBC.com promises that this will be a “2 HOUR BLOW OUT” of some sort of another.  Hey, one more Palin imitation for the road, Tina Fey?

9:00 - Die Another Day (Spike)

Remember back when James Bond still had crazy gadgets and gizmos?  You know, instead of blond hair and feelings?  Well, if you don’t, Die Another Day will gladly remind you.  Next question: they were really, really close to spinning off Halle Berry’s character into her own movie - would this have been a good thing because of 90 minutes of Halle Berry in a bikini on screen, or a bad thing because it would’ve been just as bad as Catwoman?  Discuss.

Late Night

Paris Hilton is a fine, upstanding young woman on Letterman, Leno is apparently featuring something involving SeaWorld (……yeah), 2.0somethings mancrush Brian Williams is on Conan, Doris Kearns Goodwin plagiarizes her witty retorts to Jon Stewart on the Daily Show, and the Atlantic’s Andrew Sullivan brags about how many bajillions of readers his stupid blog gets on Colbert.

OMG TV: In which I objectify actresses from NBC sitcoms

Posted by Jeff in , , , , , , , , , , ,

8:30 - Kath & Kim (NBC)

Shamelessly dumb and painfully brightly colored, Kath & Kim is my guilty pleasure these days.  Selma Blair being smokin’ doesn’t hurt.

9:00 - The Office (NBC)

There’s only something like two episodes left with Amy Ryan, which is extremely sad.  Savor every last minute of it.  The real question about tonight’s Halloween themed episode is: can Pam top her super hot cat costume from a couple seasons ago? (Note: way hotter than this weird sketch I found online is makes it seem.)

9:30 - 30 Rock (NBC)

Sweet sassy molassy, 30 Rock is back!  Oh happy day!  This is tremen– oh, it’s the episode we all watched online a week ago.  Hmm.  Well… at least we know that it’s a good episode?  (And that Tina Fey is hot?  Yessss, three for three.)

10:00 - Life on Mars (ABC)

My favorite new show of the fall season, even putting aside my tremendous love for the original BBC version.  Travel back to 1973 New York City, back when Harvey Keitel looked… well, exactly like he does today, I guess.  Man he’s a ragged looking dude.

Late Night

Ashley Olsen is forced to eat a gosh darn sandwich already on Letterman, Christina Applegate is our favorite recent breast cancer survivor on Leno, Jada Pinkett-Smith discusses being the Fresh Princess on Conan, Bill Kristol annoyingly smirks on The Daily Show, and badass rock band Wilco tears it up on Colbert.

OMG TV: Enough of this Obama guy already

Posted by Jeff in , , , , , ,

8:00 - Barack Obama’s Variety Funtime Half Hour (NBC, CBS, BET & Fox)

When flush with cash, some presidential campaigns blow $150,000 on outfits for a former beauty queen yokel.  Others buy up a half hour of network time.  New York magazine and SNL have both weighed in with their predictions, but the real question is, why isn’t this on ABC?  Is Obama going to pretape his message so he can catch Pushing Daisies?

8:37 EST - World Series Game Five… again (Fox)

Hopefully.  If this crap in Philly keeps up, we’re going to have to send in FEMA.  Then again, on the bright side, we at least get some hilarious Selig faces everytime he has to explain another dumb aspect of this dumb series.

10:00 - South Park (Comedy Central)

Picking up where last week’s excellently Peruvian Flute Band themed episode left off, the town goes all Cloverfield as hamsters invade.  Sure, why not.

Late Night

Alec Baldwin hopefully looks less creepy than he does on his book cover while visiting Letterman, Sarah Silverman attempts to avoid another London incident on Leno, Tracy Morgan continues the 30 Rock love parade on Conan, some cat named Barry Hussein is on The Daily Show, and The Wire creator David Simon goes Baltimore style on Colbert.
