OMG TV: I ain’t afraid of no ghosts

Posted by Jeff in , , , , , , , , , , ,

Let it be known that the TV Guide network is running nothing but a half hour program called Jon & Kate: It’s Too Late.  Shame, really.

Better Off Ted

9:30 (ABC)

Hey, Better Off Ted is back, renewed, and is showing new episodes!  It’s the best from-the-creator-of-Andy-Richter-Controls-the-Universe show on TV today!

Ghostbusters

8:00 (AMC)

Kids these days with their Ghostbusters video games and whatever.  When I was a kid, we made our own Ghostbusters fun by creating booby traps involving marbles and a ghost trap.

The Superstars

8:00 (ABC)

Wow, some silly blonde white girl does what Tony Romo, Donovan McNabb, Steve Young and many others couldn’t: call out Terrell Owens on his bullshit.  Shouldn’t that be enough to get you to tune in?

Late Night

Jon Stewart welcomes author Mike Kim, and Colbert brings out author Kevin Mattson. The network reruns include Gwyneth Paltrow and Joel McHale on Conan, Michael J. Fox on Letterman, and Seth Meyers and Michelle Trachtenberg on Fallon.

OMG TV: It’s an Unamerican Summer without Gladiators

Posted by Jeff in , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Fan-freaking-tastic, we start the blog back up right in the middle of crappy summer television, and no American Gladiators in sight.  Missin u, Wolf.

Top Gear

8:00 (BBC America)

Back to back episodes as the boys go American – first, a visit from Marky Mark, and then cruising through the western states.

Make ‘em Laugh

10:00 (PBS)

An installment of PBS’ excellent documentary on 20th century American comedy, focusing on domestic sitcoms.  No word on if the hilarious Michael Rapaport vehicle The War at Home is included.

Superbad

8:00 (Encore)

Michael Cera, despite having only played a few roles, seems to alternate from loved-to-hated faster than anyone.  At least in the hipster community.  Don’t worry, Scott Pilgrim will undo all the Year One harm.

Late Night

It’s hiatus week across the board on the networks: witness the origin of Co-Co Christopher’s nickname with Tom Hanks and Green Day, Letterman has the sexy-funny pairing of Jessica Biel and Zach Galifinakis (guess which is which!), Fallon has Ice-T, Elmo, and Morgan Webb , and Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert buck the trend and feature new and exciting guests, such as neurologist Oliver Sacks and astronomer Neil deGrasse Tyson.

OMG TV: Short people got no reason to live

Posted by Jeff in , , , , , , , ,

BCS Championship Game

8:15 EST (FOX)

I really don’t care about college football.  Really really really.  Let’s hold Obama to that dumb campaign pledge about revising the way the championship is set up, because we definitely don’t have anything better to be doing.

30 Rock

9:30 (NBC)

Peter Dinklage guest stars!  What?  Who’s Peter Dinklage, you ask?  Why, he’s that guy ⇒⇒⇒

Come on, he was in The Station Agent?

Oh, you were too drunk to remember anything from that movie besides the “funny short guy”?  Well, that’s pretty much all you need to know.

Late Night

Kate Winslet is moody and depressing on Letterman (just like her movies! get it?), Dustin Hoffman hopefully out-explicits himself on Leno, Howie Mandel should not, despite his past television experience, be let near children on Conan, Dana Perino only has a couple weeks left of lying with a straight face on the Daily Show, and Lawrence Lessig pirates “shares alike” bootleg copies of Colbert’s christmas special on, well, Colbert.

OMG TV: What’s the deal with Bodhi?

Posted by Jeff in , , , , , , , , ,

swayze

Barbara Walters: Patrick Swayze

10:00 (ABC)

The Swayze has been going through some tough times recently, and Babs should get to the bottom of the story, or at least convince him to sign on for Point Break 2: High Tide.

Knight Rider

8:00 (NBC)

I was under the impression this was already canceled, so I guess we’re on borrowed time? Time to man up and start watching, folks, or Jay Leno’s gonna start going on at 9.

People’s Choice Awards

9:00 (CBS)

And I choose to watch something else.  Sorry, Queen Latifah.

Late Night

Ricky Gervais tells ethnic jokes on Letterman (kidding! of course he’ll only tell fat jokes!), Anne Hathaway is tall and voluptuous on Leno, Rachel Maddow sets us straight (but not too straight) on the Daily Show, and I’m already tired of the interview Colbert is going to have with Benicio Del Toro.

OMG TV: Paging Dr. Braff, Dr. Braff to the cancellation ward

Scrubs

9:00 (ABC)

Remember back when everyone thought Scrubs was finished because Zach Braff had just made Garden State and was now a “filmmaker”? So much for that, eh? New season, new network, two new episodes.

Blazing Saddles

8:00 (AMC)

You know, the whole movie is just one big allegory about the 2008 election. Obama’s the sheriff, Howard Dean’s the governor, uh… Biden’s Gene Wilder… err… Iowa is the horse. Hmm. Let me get back to you.

Rock of Love Charm School With Sharon Osbourne Reunion

8:00 (VH1)

I have no idea what any of those words above this sentence mean.

Late Night

Kevin James is confused for a real live mall cop on Letterman, Queen Latifah finally reveals what exactly she is royalty of on Leno, Kate Hudson is awfully pretty on Conan, Michael Wolff writes books about Rupert Murdoch on The Daily Show, and Matt Miller writes books about somethin else entirely on Colbert.
